Our Family

Meet the Flach Family! Farmer Wes and Mindy, and our three kids, Jacob, Abi, and little Eden! We've been farming for four years but just moved to Hamilton in the spring of 2022 and started Weathertree Farm. We are excited to grow your food, get to know you, and welcome you to the farm week after week!

Our Mission

We exist to grow healthful food for our community in a way that cares for the land we've been entrusted with. We want to be a small part of some big changes that we want to see:

Strengthen communities through local food economies
Steward and love the earth by attending to soil and ecosystem health
Increase joy and health in eating for our farm members

Our Dream

There is something healing about getting one's hands in the soil. There is something healing about purpose and hard work toward a common goal. There is something healing about being embraced by a loving community.

We have been dreaming for many years of creating a farm and intentional Christian community that would welcome those in recovery from addiction to come live and work as part of their continuing journey of healing. Our hope is to make high quality aftercare available to those who would not otherwise be able to afford it by making work on the farm an integral part of the recovery experience, along with the radical embrace of a loving community.

Wes and Mindy both have a background in Christian ministry, and Wes worked for many years with those in recovery back in Texas. In those years, God planted the seed of founding a working farm with a dual mission of caring for the earth and those on the margins of society.

We are currently in phase 1 of this dream: building a profitable and sustainable farm business. One of the best ways to be a part of this dream is to join our Farm Box Subscription. Our Name

"I hope you can get that front fence row cleared of all the honeysuckle so I can see the weather tree again." One of our neighbors said this the first time we met her and proceeded to tell us about her weather tree, a towering red oak that she had known since the early seventies when she first moved to the area and began hiking around our farm with the neighbor kids who lived here then. She loved to see the weather tree each fall turn beautiful crimson and had noticed that as it became a deeper and deeper maroon, almost black, it reliably predicted the final end of any surprise warm days.We love this image because it carries so much vision for our farm. We want to be like a weather tree in our community - a visible sign that a new season is on the horizon for those who come to our farm to live, work, and heal (See "Our Dream" above). We also love how this image reflects the way our faith has led us to this calling for farming and ministry. As Christians, we believe that God is bringing God's kingdom into the world, marked by peace, justice, love, ecological restoration, and the renewal of all things. God has called our community to be a sign of that coming change - a weather tree - in the way we love, seek justice, care for the earth and the poor, and work for justice and peace.
